Here’s how the Obama Doctrine works in practice: gather insiders to craft a complex plan, make all of the key decisions before others even know the details, bully and threaten to overcome opposition instead of collaborating to find common ground, ignore practical objections even when raised in the most polite and non-ideological ways, trample on the sovereignty of states, deny that tax increases are hidden in the plan, and dismiss or ignore constitutional challenges and pray the courts come down on your side. It is a risky, smash-mouth approach, but it often works.
